About Course

Chartered Accountancy, commonly referred to as CA, is a professional course that deals with accounting, taxation, auditing, financial management, and related fields. It is considered one of the most prestigious and challenging courses in the field of commerce and finance.

The CA course is administered by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), which is a statutory body established by an act of parliament in 1949.

Chartered Accountancy is a highly respected profession in the finance industry, and Chartered Accountants are in high demand in India and around the world. They play a crucial role in financial management, providing auditing and assurance services, advising on taxation matters, and providing financial consulting services to businesses, individuals, and governments.

Course is divided into three levels

To become a CA, a student needs to complete all three levels of the course and undergo a three-year practical training known as Articleship. After completing Articleship, a student needs to clear a final examination to become a member of the ICAI and be designated as a Chartered Accountant.

Foundation Course: This is the first level of the CA course and is open to students who have completed their 10+2 education. The foundation course consists of four papers –

  • Principles and Practice of Accounting
  • Business Laws and Business Correspondence and Reporting
  • Business Mathematics and Logical Reasoning & Statistics
  • Business Economics and Business and Commercial Knowledge.

CA Intermediate Course: After completing the foundation course, a student can register for the intermediate course. The intermediate course is further divided into two groups – Group I and Group II and consists of eight papers, including Accounting, Cost Accounting, Taxation, and Auditing. A student needs to pass both groups to be eligible for the final course.

Final Course: The final course is the last level of the CA course and consists of two groups – Group I and Group II, with four papers in each group. The final course focuses on advanced topics such as

  • Financial Reporting
  • Strategic Financial Management
  • Advanced Auditing and Professional Ethics
  • Advanced Management Accounting
